Meet Poppet.
This happy little guy had a bit of an incident with a car, and unfortunately he was left with some pretty significant injuries. He has now had his surgery and is officially a tripod dog, but if you think that’s going to slow Poppet down, you clearly haven’t met him yet.
Poppet is still recovering and is currently on crate rest, with his body understandably still a little battered, bruised and sore. But his spirit? That hasn’t been touched.
He is absolutely raring to get back out there and take on the world.
Poppet is around a year old and is a Terrier-type/Maltese-type mix. He is high energy, incredibly clever, funny, affectionate and has a personality that is impossible not to love. He has already shown us that being a tripod isn't going to stop him from doing the things he loves, and we know he has a very full life ahead of him.
His forever family will need to be prepared to continue with his physio as he recovers and give him plenty of time, attention and care. He will also happily accept applications for the position of personal masseuse.
Poppet is the sort of dog who will keep you laughing. He is confident, curious and full of terrier attitude, and we have no doubt that once he is fully recovered, he will be ready to race you around the yard.
And yes, he will probably win.
Poppet would love to have another dog in his forever home, provided they are confident enough to handle his big personality. He is not suitable to live with cats, rabbits, chickens or young children. His terrier instincts are strong — if something runs, Poppet wants to chase it — so his new family will need to understand this and be committed to working with him rather than against him.
Poppet is currently fostered in Taupaki, Auckland, and due to his ongoing veterinary care and his very special relationship with his vet crush Leanne at Vet Trust Henderson, his adoption will need to be within the Auckland region.
His adoption fee covers all vaccinations, desexing, up-to-date flea and worm treatment, a week’s supply of food, his favourite toy, collar, lead and his very important, very smelly blankie.
Poppet has had a rough start, but he hasn't let it change who he is. He is still funny, cheeky, affectionate and ready to live his best life.
Now he just needs someone to help him do it.
If you think you could be the forever family Poppet is waiting for, please get in touch.
